The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran entered into force on October 2 and covers areas such as military, economic and energy cooperation.
Signed in January by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian, this long-term alliance is destined to transform global balances.
Iran and Russia to sign agreements to build 8 atomic power plants and expand nuclear cooperation
The agreement, valid for 20 years and automatically renewable, establishes protection mechanisms against unilateral sanctions, promoting independent payment systems and trade in national currencies.
It also opens a front for an energy alliance, with nuclear and hydrocarbon projects, while establishing exclusion from NATO and any foreign military presence in the Caspian Sea.
In the military area, it includes joint exercises, the sharing of intelligence and technology, as well as a security clause that commits Moscow and Tehran not to support aggressors against the other side.
The signing of this treaty responds to the growing pressure of sanctions and blockades imposed by the United States and its allies.
The Russia-Iran alliance marks a new level of coordination between free and sovereign countries, which articulate positions in key scenarios such as the Middle East, Central Asia and the Caucasus.
According to analysts, this is a step that deepens the transition to a multipolar order, where emerging powers openly challenge the global architecture dominated by Washington.
